A man has been charged with second-degree murder after a pedestrian was fatally struck in a hotel parking lot in Melancthon. Emergency crews responded around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, where 59-year-old Garnett (David) Walters was found dead.
Police arrested 34-year-old Andrae Mullings of Melancthon, who has been remanded into custody and will appear in court in Orangeville at a later date.
Investigators say the incident appears isolated and poses no ongoing risk to the public, though residents may notice an increased police presence as the investigation continues.
