A serious motorcycle collision on Highway 401 in Whitby left a rider in critical condition Saturday afternoon.
OPP officers responded to the eastbound lanes near Brock Street shortly before 3 p.m. after reports of a crash involving a motorcycle. Officials said the injured rider, a man believed to be in his 20s, was transported by air ambulance to Sunnybrook Hospital.
Police have not yet released details about what led to the collision and the investigation remains ongoing.
Traffic was disrupted for a short time as portions of the highway were temporarily closed in both directions during the emergency response.
