Fire crews battled a two-alarm blaze at a Brampton home overnight after a fire broke out in the basement. Brampton Fire and Emergency Services said the incident occurred in the area of Oklea Boulevard and McLaughlin Road, with emergency crews responding shortly after midnight Wednesday.

Fire officials said all occupants were able to escape safely, and crews worked to bring the smoke and flames under control. By about 1:10 a.m., the fire was contained, though firefighters remained on scene to watch for potential flare-ups.

Peel Paramedics confirmed that a man in his 30s was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
