An elderly man was rescued Friday afternoon after slipping down a steep embankment leading toward the Thames River in London.
Emergency crews responded around 2:30 p.m. to the area behind the Labatt Brewery, where the man had lost his footing on the north shore embankment.
Due to the sharp slope and difficult terrain, the London Fire Department’s technical rescue unit had to use rope equipment and a basket system to carefully haul him back to safety.
The man did not enter the river, but he suffered a head cut and received medical attention at the scene.
