Police in Greater Sudbury are actively searching for Devin Taylor, 47, who fled a roadside check on October 31, dragging a police officer along the road in the process. Fortunately, the officer suffered only minor injuries.
The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. during a RIDE check at the roundabout of Lasalle Boulevard and Frood Road. Officers stopped Taylor’s vehicle and suspected impairment while speaking with him. Upon further investigation, they discovered his driver’s license had expired and that he was prohibited from driving.
When officers instructed him to turn off the engine and exit the vehicle, Taylor refused. One officer attempted to arrest him by opening the driver’s door, but Taylor drove off, striking the officer and dragging him a short distance before the officer managed to break free. Taylor then fled the scene.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Taylor on multiple charges, including assaulting a police officer with a weapon, resisting arrest, impaired driving, dangerous driving, fleeing the scene, and three counts of driving while prohibited. Authorities are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
