York Regional Police are asking the public for information following a serious collision involving a cyclist and a pickup truck in East Gwillimbury on Wednesday.

Officers were called shortly before noon to Doane Road, just east of Warden Avenue, after reports that the two had collided while travelling in opposite directions.

A 58-year-old cyclist from Markham was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The pickup truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Police say the circumstances of the crash are still under review and are encouraging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
