A fatal two-vehicle crash in Niagara-on-the-Lake claimed one life Wednesday morning, according to police.
Niagara Regional Police were called to a head-on collision on Portage Road near Stanley Avenue around 6:45 a.m. One driver was found unresponsive at the scene and, despite efforts by Niagara Emergency Medical Services, was pronounced dead.
Investigators say preliminary information suggests the deceased may have experienced a medical emergency while driving. The other driver involved suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information related to the collision to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service.
