A 47-year-old woman from Midland has been charged with impaired driving following a minor collision at a Simcoe Road 93 roundabout Monday afternoon.
Police from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment responded around 2:30 p.m. after a vehicle reportedly rear-ended another in the traffic circle. Officers who spoke with the driver noticed signs of impairment, and the driver subsequently failed a roadside breath test.
The woman was arrested and charged with impaired operation, operating a vehicle with blood alcohol exceeding 80 milligrams, and having alcohol in her system as a G2 licence holder. She was later released with a court date pending.
Her licence was suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle was impounded for a week.
Police used the incident to remind drivers to plan ahead by arranging a safe ride, noting that even small amounts of alcohol or drugs can affect judgment and driving ability.
