A vehicle collision caused a significant power outage in Oshawa early Wednesday morning, leaving approximately 600 Oshawa Power customers without electricity.
The incident occurred around 5 a.m. near Simcoe Street North and Hillcroft Street. A northbound minivan left the roadway, crossed the curb and struck a hydro pole just south of Hillcroft Street. The impact broke the pole and displaced it several feet.
The resulting outage is affecting areas along Simcoe Street between Rossland Road West and near Adelaide Avenue East.
