A 21-year-old Mississauga driver is facing several charges after allegedly fleeing from police and crashing into a ditch north of Brampton. The incident occurred on August 3 around 1 p.m. in Caledon, near Highway 10 and Old School Road, while OPP officers were on patrol.

Police say the vehicle was flagged by an in-cruiser Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system due to a licence plate issue. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled. Shortly after, both the vehicle and driver were found in a ditch following a crash.

The driver was arrested and charged with impaired operation (blood alcohol over the legal limit), dangerous driving, fleeing from police, and failing to remain at the scene. The individual’s name has not been released.
