A 37-year-old man from Mississauga is facing multiple charges after a stolen vehicle was involved in a single-car crash in a northern Ontario First Nation community south of Sudbury. Ontario Provincial Police say the collision happened Saturday around 11 a.m. on Pickerel River Road in Henvey Inlet First Nation, located between Sudbury and Parry Sound.

West Parry Sound OPP officers responded to the crash and launched an impaired driving investigation. Police later determined the vehicle had been stolen from the Halton region in southern Ontario. The driver, identified as Christopher Rich, was arrested at the scene.

Rich has been charged with several offences, including impaired operation, refusing to comply with a demand, operating a vehicle while prohibited, driving under suspension, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of an identity document, and having alcohol readily available while in care and control of a vehicle.

Police say he was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court on January 5. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle involved was impounded for seven days.
