A 21-year-old Mississauga man is facing several drug-trafficking and driving-related charges following a Monday afternoon crash on Highway 417 in Ottawa. OPP officers responded just after 4 p.m. to a westbound collision near Maitland Avenue and took one of the involved drivers into custody for careless driving.
A search of his vehicle uncovered a significant quantity of illegal drugs, including cocaine, opioids and more than 30 grams of cannabis.
The driver, identified as 21-year-old Jayden Dunkley, is charged with possessing cannabis over the legal public limit, two counts of possessing Schedule I substances for trafficking, violating a firearms prohibition order and careless driving. He is expected to appear in court in Ottawa at a later date.
