A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Brampton early Saturday morning, according to Peel Regional Police.

Emergency crews responded around 3:47 a.m. to a crash involving a motorcycle and a white SUV at the intersection of Bovaird Drive and Yellow Brick Road. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the SUV driver initially fled before officers arrived but later returned while the investigation was underway. The 48-year-old driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving, with investigators indicating that additional charges may be laid as the case progresses.

Preliminary findings suggest both vehicles were travelling straight through the intersection, with one heading eastbound and the other southbound, when the collision occurred.

Road closures in the area remained in effect for several hours following the crash but were lifted Saturday afternoon after the investigation at the scene concluded.
