A 57-year-old motorcyclist from Ramara Township suffered critical injuries after losing control and crashing on Muskoka Street in Washago on Tuesday night. Police say it was a single-vehicle incident in which the southbound motorcycle slid across the road before coming to rest on the shoulder.

Emergency crews found the man lying on the roadway and performed life-saving treatment before taking him to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. He was later airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre with severe, potentially life-altering injuries.

The roadway was closed for several hours as police continued to investigate the cause of the crash.
