A 61-year-old man sustained critical injuries after being ejected from his motorcycle in a collision with a pickup truck in Clarington on Monday.
The crash occurred around 3 p.m. on Lakeshore Road, east of Stephenson Road. Durham Regional Police say a black Chevrolet pickup truck, traveling east, had to move over the center line to avoid a parked vehicle. As the truck crested a hill, it collided with a westbound Suzuki motorcycle, ridden by the 61-year-old man from Oshawa. The rider was thrown from the bike and sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.
He was initially taken to a local hospital, then airlifted to a Toronto trauma center, where he remains in critical condition. The pickup driver, uninjured, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 905-579-1520 ext. 5267 or Crime Stoppers.
