A serious crash on Highway 11 in Gravenhurst left one person in critical condition and temporarily closed the southbound lanes.

Police responded Thursday at 3:50 p.m. to reports of a collision involving three vehicles near Sparrow Lake Route Drive. Witnesses said a motorcycle was involved, and the rider became trapped under another vehicle. Emergency crews freed the operator, who was then airlifted to hospital with serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Highway 11 reopened at Kilworthy Road around 6:35 p.m. following the incident.

Update – Police have charged an 18-year-old from Angus with impaired driving, having cannabis readily accessible in a vehicle, and violating G2 licence conditions. A future court date has been scheduled.
