A vehicle crash in Stouffville early Thursday morning caused a lengthy road closure and knocked out power to thousands of residents.
The collision happened shortly after 6 a.m. at Main Street and Park Drive, where a vehicle struck a hydro pole, damaging the infrastructure and disrupting electricity service.
The driver was charged with careless driving and taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Several Hydro One crews were brought in to repair the damage. The outage affected about 3,715 customers. Power was restored to many affected residents shortly after 2 p.m., while repairs continued in the area.
