Barrie police responded to a serious collision at the intersection of Dunlop Street West and Cedar Pointe Drive early Tuesday morning, disrupting traffic during the rush hour.
Officers arrived at the scene around 5:19 a.m. and shut down the main intersection while emergency crews investigated. The crash also led to the closure of the on-ramp to southbound Highway 400, as well as the northbound off-ramp to westbound Dunlop Street West for several hours.
The Ministry of Transportation assisted with blocking access to the highway ramps during the investigation and cleanup. Police said multiple people were injured, though the severity of those injuries has not been confirmed.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes while closures were in place. The intersection and ramps have since reopened.
