Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcyclist and a dump truck on Highway 401 in Toronto Saturday morning. The crash occurred around 7:52 a.m. on the westbound express lanes near Allen Road.
Investigators believe the dump truck lost its driveshaft before colliding with the motorcycle. The 59-year-old motorcyclist, a resident of Newmarket, was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.
As of now, the westbound express lanes at Avenue Road remain closed, with traffic being diverted into the collector lanes. Police are asking any witnesses to come forward.
