Highway 17 in eastern Ontario has reopened following a transport truck crash that knocked down hydro lines and disrupted power Tuesday.
The collision happened around 11 a.m., forcing the highway to close in both directions for several hours. The road reopened at about 3:15 p.m., with traffic now moving through the crash site using a single alternating lane under the direction of traffic flaggers.
The crash also caused a widespread power outage, affecting about 5,500 Hydro One customers. Electricity was restored by approximately 5 p.m.
Police say no injuries were reported in the collision and are advising motorists to proceed carefully through the area.
