Fire crews in Sault Ste. Marie were called to two separate garage fires within an hour on May 3, both of which caused damage but no injuries.

The first fire broke out around 7 p.m. on Rossmore Road, where firefighters arrived to find a detached garage engulfed in smoke and flames. Crews managed to bring the blaze under control, but the structure suffered heavy fire and smoke damage, along with heat damage to nearby buildings and a parked vehicle. Due to the extent of the damage, the cause has not been determined.

Roughly an hour later, firefighters responded to a second incident on Chambers Avenue. In that case, flames and smoke were reported inside an attached garage. The fire was quickly contained, resulting in limited fire damage but notable smoke impact.

Authorities say the cause of the second fire also remains under investigation.
