A crash involving two transport trucks led to the temporary closure of an eastbound Highway 401 on-ramp in Kitchener late Monday night. Ontario Provincial Police responded around 10:45 p.m. near Homer Watson Boulevard and Fountain Street, where both vehicles had slid into a ditch amid extremely icy road conditions.

To allow emergency crews to manage the scene and remove the trucks, the Fountain Street ramp to the eastbound 401 was shut down for several hours.

All lanes reopened by about 2:30 a.m. No injuries were reported, and authorities continue to investigate the incident, which is believed to have been caused by hazardous weather conditions.
