A two-vehicle collision disrupted traffic on Ottawa’s Highway 417 late Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews responded around 11:30 a.m. near Pinecrest Road after a crash involving a tractor-trailer hauling wood. According to provincial police, the truck came to a sudden stop in a construction zone, causing part of its load to break through the trailer and push into the rear of the cab.
Wood debris spilled across the westbound lanes, triggering significant backups stretching as far as Kirkwood Avenue. Despite the damage, no injuries were reported, and officials noted the driver avoided harm. Police confirmed the truck driver was issued a $390 ticket for operating a commercial vehicle with an insecure load.
Westbound Highway 417 was reduced to a single lane at Pinecrest Road while crews worked to transfer the load to another trailer. Motorists were advised to steer clear of the area until the cleanup is complete.
