A transport truck carrying multiple vehicles narrowly avoided serious damage after one of its rear tires ignited on Highway 400 in Barrie.
Emergency crews were called around 7:30 a.m. Thursday to the northbound right shoulder near Dunlop Street. Barrie firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, with the scene cleared close to an hour later. No injuries were reported.
Ontario Provincial Police controlled traffic while crews handled the situation, and a heavy tow truck was brought in as a precaution. Fire officials said the vehicles being transported were not affected by the fire.
