A transport truck fire caused delays for drivers on Highway 401 near Woodstock during Tuesday morning’s commute.

Ontario Provincial Police closed two westbound lanes near Mill Street and Sweaburg Road after a trailer fire was reported in the area of Dodge Road. An OPP officer noticed the trailer on fire shortly before 8 a.m. and stopped to assist.

Investigators determined the issue involved a burning axle after the truck was separated from the trailer. The fire was quickly put out, and no injuries were reported.

The lane closures lasted for about an hour as crews worked at the scene. By 9 a.m., all westbound lanes except the right lane had reopened, with traffic gradually returning to normal.
