Firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze at a high-rise building in Etobicoke early Tuesday morning, forcing dozens of residents to evacuate.

Crews were called to the building near Kipling Avenue and Dundas Street West shortly after 1 a.m., where heavy smoke and flames were visible on the first floor upon arrival. About 75 people were initially evacuated and sheltered on city buses.

After firefighters brought the fire under control and ventilated the building, most residents were allowed to return to their homes. No injuries were reported.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
