A jackknifed tractor-trailer caused major delays on Highway 400 in Barrie Wednesday morning, backing up traffic in both directions for about an hour and a half.

Emergency crews were called around 9:30 a.m. to the southbound lanes just past the Bayfield Street off-ramp, where the truck had slid into a ditch and was blocking the right and middle lanes. Heavy tow operators were brought in to remove the vehicle, forcing lane closures and leaving only one lane open as traffic slowly moved through the area.

Barrie police said the incident did not affect city off-ramps or local streets, and Ontario Provincial Police confirmed there were no injuries. By 11:45 a.m., the truck had been cleared and traffic flow had returned to normal.
