Two residents have been displaced after a vehicle fire in Ottawa’s Westboro neighbourhood spread to multiple vehicles and damaged a nearby apartment unit Tuesday afternoon.

Ottawa Fire Services responded to the 300 block of Whitby Avenue shortly before 2:25 p.m. after receiving several reports of vehicles on fire outside a multi-unit residential building.

Fire officials said the blaze began in a parked vehicle and quickly spread to two additional vehicles and an apartment unit. Crews contained the fire within about 20 minutes and prevented it from extending to other units in the building.

A total of three vehicles and one apartment sustained damage. Firefighters used ventilation fans to clear smoke from the building.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
