Ottawa firefighters responded to a house fire in Manor Park on Saturday morning, successfully containing the blaze before it spread to nearby properties.

Crews were called to a home on Martin Avenue, near Blasdell Avenue, at approximately 10:23 a.m. Firefighters arriving at the scene found downed power lines across the driveway and a neighbouring residence at risk from the flames.

No one was inside the affected home. Firefighters worked to protect surrounding properties and prevent the fire from spreading.

Ottawa paramedics also attended the scene, but no patients required treatment.

The fire was brought under control shortly after 11 a.m. An Ottawa Fire Services investigator is now examining the scene to determine how the fire started and where it originated.
