Six people have been forced out of their homes after a fire spread from one Scarborough residence to another Tuesday evening.
Toronto firefighters were called to the area of Haddon and Edgely avenues shortly after 5:30 p.m. after a blaze broke out on the rear porch of a home.
The fire spread rapidly to the neighbouring residence, causing significant damage to both properties. Neither home is currently considered safe for occupancy, leaving four residents from one house and two from the other without a place to stay.
No injuries were reported. Fire officials said everyone inside the homes was able to get out safely after the homeowners discovered the fire early.
Both residences were equipped with functioning smoke alarms, according to Toronto Fire.
Investigators are expected to return to the scene Wednesday morning to determine what caused the fire.
