A 33-year-old Barrie man is facing impaired driving charges following a two-vehicle crash Monday evening.
The collision occurred shortly after 5 p.m. near Veteran’s Drive and Mapleview Drive West. When officers arrived, they reported finding suspected cannabis in the driver’s vehicle and noted several signs of impairment, including poor balance, red eyes, and a strong smell of cannabis.
Police transported the driver to headquarters, where testing determined he was unable to safely operate a vehicle.
He has been charged with impaired driving and having cannabis readily accessible in a vehicle. His car was also impounded for seven days.
No serious injuries were reported, including for a two-year-old passenger in the other vehicle.
