A fire that caused an estimated $1 million in damage to Mike’s Place Restaurant in Chatham has been ruled accidental.
The blaze broke out Tuesday at the Queen Street restaurant, prompting an investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and Chatham-Kent Fire.
Investigators determined that an electrical problem inside the building sparked the fire. After examining the scene, officials found no indication of criminal activity.
While no injuries have been reported, the restaurant suffered extensive damage. Authorities have now concluded their investigation.
