A large fire tore through a campground in Clarence Creek on Tuesday evening, destroying multiple trailers and mobile homes.

Firefighters were called to Mapleview Campground at approximately 5:20 p.m. after reports of a vehicle fire. According to Clarence-Rockland Fire Chief Martin Rousseau, the flames quickly spread to a nearby trailer before strong winds carried the fire to several additional units.

Crews managed to contain the blaze to a central section of the campground, but officials estimate that between six and 10 mobile homes were destroyed.

No injuries have been reported.

Firefighters from Ottawa Fire Services and The Nation Fire Department assisted Clarence-Rockland crews in battling the fire.
