An apartment balcony fire in Waterloo prompted a visible emergency response Thursday afternoon, temporarily closing part of King Street South.
The Waterloo Fire Department was called to the residential building around 4:30 p.m. after the fire was reported on a balcony. Crews quickly contained the blaze and prevented it from spreading beyond the balcony area.
No injuries were reported. Due to the busy location near the LRT corridor, King Street South was closed between John Street and Allen Street while firefighters worked at the scene. The roadway reopened around 5:30 p.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with damage estimated to be less than $100,000.
