A fire in downtown Windsor caused an estimated $2 million in damage early Wednesday morning, affecting four businesses. The blaze broke out around 1:30 a.m. at a commercial property, prompting a significant emergency response and a temporary closure of Wyandotte Street between Aylmer and Marentette, which has since reopened.
Fire crews were forced into a defensive approach after part of the roof collapsed. Heavy smoke in the area led police to advise nearby residents to keep their windows closed.
No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
