Two businesses in a south Barrie shopping plaza were forced to close temporarily after an electric pickup truck crashed into their storefronts on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2:24 p.m. at the plaza located at the corner of Big Bay Point Road and Prince William Way, when a Ford electric pickup truck struck both a Domino’s Pizza location and a neighbouring nail salon.

According to the pizza shop’s operations director, the driver had been parked while his wife was inside picking up an order. The vehicle reportedly accelerated unexpectedly and crashed into the building, possibly after the driver mistakenly believed the truck was no longer in drive.

The collision caused significant structural damage to the pizza restaurant, which is expected to remain closed for an undetermined period while repairs and safety assessments are conducted. The adjacent nail salon was also affected but plans to reopen as scheduled.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
