An early morning fire in Sault Ste. Marie has left residents of a multi-unit building displaced, according to officials. Firefighters were called to Gloucester Street at 6 a.m. following reports of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, they discovered flames coming from both the vehicle and the front porch of the nearby residential building.
Crews helped one occupant out of the building, and managed to contain and extinguish the fire. The Red Cross was called in to assist those displaced. The investigation into the cause of the fire did not yield any conclusive results.
Significant damage was reported to the vehicle and the multi-unit dwelling, as well as two neighboring buildings. Two individuals were treated for minor injuries at the scene, but no other injuries were reported.
