Firefighters in London responded to a wind-driven blaze that caused major damage to the back of a home in the city’s east end on Monday afternoon.
The fire broke out shortly before 2 p.m., and everyone inside the house was able to escape safely and call 911.
When crews arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames fueled by strong winds. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze to a rear addition of the home, which partially collapsed during the incident. Because of the structural risk, crews fought the fire from outside the building.
Officials said the flames had already spread damage to a neighbouring home by the time firefighters reached the scene.
No injuries were reported. Damage from the fire is estimated at about $450,000, and the cause remains under investigation.
