Toronto police report that a 67-year-old man died after a vehicle crashed into a business in the city on Wednesday afternoon. The incident happened around 2:28 p.m. near the intersection of Dufferin Street and Finch Avenue West.

According to police, a 93-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle for reasons that remain unclear and drove into a storefront where six people were inside. The victim became trapped by the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two women were taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, while three others suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital care. The driver and his female passenger were also treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Police are asking anyone with dashcam video of the crash to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.

Update – According to Toronto police in an update Jan 23, 2026, the 93-year-old man has been charged with three counts of careless driving causing death or bodily harm. The accused is set to attend a court hearing on March 26, 2026.
