A 23-year-old from Barrie died and two others were injured following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 69 in the French River area Tuesday morning, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Emergency crews responded to the collision around 8 a.m. on June 9. Police said a passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and another passenger were transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators said the vehicle had been travelling northbound on Highway 69 when the crash occurred. OPP technical collision investigators and reconstruction specialists are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The highway was shut down in both directions between Highway 64 and Highway 607 for nearly nine hours before reopening shortly after 2:30 p.m.
