A 49-year-old Golden Lake-area resident was killed in an early-morning collision west of Arnprior on Saturday.
Ontario Provincial Police responded to Highway 17 near Calabogie Road shortly before 3:30 a.m., where an SUV and transport truck had collided.
The SUV driver, who was the vehicle’s only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics assessed the truck driver, who did not report any injuries.
The crash forced the closure of Highway 17 in both directions between Campbell Drive and Anderson Road for almost 12 hours. The highway reopened shortly before 3:15 p.m.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
