A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred early Friday morning on Highway 4 near Hurondale Road, just north of Exeter.

The collision, involving a car and an SUV, happened shortly before 6 a.m. The 57-year-old driver of the car, a resident of Bluewater, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in London.

Huron OPP Const. Craig Soldan noted that police efforts were complicated by a passerby who interfered with the crash scene by moving debris—an action that can hinder the investigation.

Highway 4 was closed in both directions for several hours but has since reopened. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
