One person has died following an apartment fire in Tottenham over the weekend.
Nottawasaga OPP say they were called to a residential fire on Queen Street North at about 4:45 p.m. on Sunday. Police and New Tecumseth firefighters located one individual inside the building, who was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Other residents were safely evacuated and taken to a nearby church. Police say there is no risk to public safety, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Office of the Fire Marshal and the Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit are jointly investigating.
