A fatal collision involving a transport truck and a passenger vehicle has prompted a major closure on Highway 11 in Clavet Township.

James Bay Ontario Provincial Police, along with Cochrane District EMS and the Geraldton Fire Department, responded to the crash near the Pagwa River Bridge shortly before 7 a.m. Monday.

The driver, a 54-year-old man from Geraldton was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital. The driver of the commercial truck received minor injuries.

The collision has resulted in significant traffic disruptions, with Highway 11 closed between Highway 631 and Longlac for all vehicles. The road reopened after midnight on June 9.

The Hearst OPP, supported by the traffic incident management and enforcement team, continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
