A multi-vehicle collision on Highway 410 in Brampton early Wednesday left one man critically injured and forced the closure of the northbound lanes for much of the morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say the incident unfolded around 2:30 a.m. near Clark Boulevard, beginning with a crash involving two vehicles. After that initial collision, the drivers got out and were talking on the highway when a third vehicle approached and struck one of them.

A man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, while two others were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Police say another individual involved left the area on foot before officers arrived, and investigators are still trying to determine their identity and reason for fleeing.

OPP have confirmed that a tractor-trailer was involved, along with a blue vehicle and a silver vehicle. Officers are asking anyone with information or dashcam video to contact the Mississauga OPP.

Northbound Highway 410 was shut down from Steeles Avenue East to Queen Street East for several hours while collision reconstruction took place. The highway reopened shortly after 10:30 a.m.
