A fire at a Scarborough building early Tuesday morning sent one person to hospital and prompted a temporary evacuation of residents.
Emergency crews were called to a property on Macy Avenue East, in the area of Victoria Park and Danforth avenues, shortly before 3 a.m.
Investigators believe an e-bike battery located at the rear of the building may have sparked the blaze. One man was transported to hospital for treatment, while three additional people were examined by paramedics but remained at the scene.
The fire was extinguished and residents were later permitted to return home. Authorities have kept a fire watch at the property as a precaution.
Police have not identified any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
