A resident and their dog are safe after firefighters rescued them from a second-floor unit during a house fire in Toronto’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood Monday afternoon.
The blaze was reported at a home on Ritchie Avenue, near the intersection of Dundas Street and Roncesvalles Avenue, shortly after 2 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find the occupant and the dog trapped upstairs. Crews quickly reached the pair and brought them to safety before containing the fire to the affected unit.
The resident was taken to hospital and is expected to recover. The dog was also unharmed, and no other injuries were reported.
Investigators are now working to determine what caused the fire and where it originated.
