One person was taken to hospital after being freed from a vehicle following a serious collision in Barrhaven on Christmas morning.

Ottawa fire crews were called to assist police at around 7 a.m., with paramedics also responding. Emergency crews found two vehicles had crashed near Strandherd Drive and Greenbank Road. One occupant was trapped inside a vehicle, requiring firefighters to use specialized equipment to open the door.

The extrication began shortly after crews arrived and was completed in about 10 minutes. Paramedics assessed two people at the scene. The individual who had been trapped was taken to hospital with minor injuries, while another person was checked by paramedics but declined further medical care.
