County Road 56 in Essa Township was shut down following a serious three-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon. The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m., forcing the closure of the roadway between the 20th Sideroad and County Road 21 in Utopia.
Nottawasaga OPP said one person had to be extricated from a vehicle and was transported to hospital, while no other injuries were reported. Tow trucks remain on scene, and police expect the road to reopen by about 6 p.m. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
