One person has been taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash in Brampton on Saturday night.

Peel Regional Police said the collision occurred around 8:45 p.m. near Howden Boulevard and Lime Ridge Drive, just west of Dixie Road and north of Queen Street East. Investigators say the driver of a vehicle struck a tree under circumstances that are still being examined.

Emergency crews transported the adult victim to hospital with critical injuries.

Howden Boulevard remains closed in both directions between Vodden Street and Leander Street as police continue their investigation. Drivers are being advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
